FLOYD: Richard Jonathan Floyd, 50, went Home to be with the Lord with his loving family by his side on February 18, 2017. He was a manager at Edwin Watts Golf and had attended Victory Christian Academy, graduated high school from The Bolles School where he was a member of the 1983 Baseball State Championship Team where he was affectionately and lovingly known as Bam Bam and for over 20 years he held the high school record in Florida for the most base hits and extra base hits in a single season. From there he graduated from FJC and Stetson University where he was awarded most outstanding offensive player of the year for the Stetson Hatters in 1987. He also played for San Mateo Little League for many years from time he was 7 years old. He was also affectionately known as Pooh Bear and Richy-Rich. Richard was an awesome son, brother, grandson, nephew, and wonderful uncle to his precious nephew, Andrew, whom he loved so dearly. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was always happy and radiated that wherever he went and whomever he met for the first time. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Evelyn Nelson, John I. Floyd, and Odessa Watts; and Uncle Tommy Floyd. Survivors include his parents, Owen and Muriel Floyd; Sister, Darlene Floyd Drury; 1 nephew, Andrew Jesse Drury and his aunt, Sharon Nelson Chase (Harold). Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM in the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32218 with Dr. Herb Reavis Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service at the church.
