Our hearts where broken when we lost them both. Ben and I still have them in our thoughts. We have cried laughing at some of the antics Joan used to get us into. A testament to Joan and Richard lives on in your wonderful family. It still hurts, but I know we will see them again.

I always will remember Dick Flutie as "coach." Even 40 years later, I'd still refer to him as coach. That's what he was to all of us who played for him. The fundamentals I learned from him carried me through high school and college. Had I not interacted with coach, I dare say I may not have had the opportunity to play at those levels. Dear Doug:Watched DWTS just now and am still in tears after watching you devote your beautiful waltz to your dear parents. I've heard of dying of a broken heart and how tragic you lost both your mom and dad on the same day. Thank you for your beautiful dance. They watched you from heaven! In sympathy from a caring fan. To the Flutie Family, so sorry for your losses. I know your parents were special people just by seeing how all their children and grandchildren have grown up to be special people. You guys are always in my prayers and I know you all will carry on just like your parents would have wanted you to.
Sincerely yours,

Dear Doug, Bill, Darren, Denise, and all of your family,
Our hearts go out to you, not the least with the holidays approaching.
Doug, one short memory to offer: I recall your Dad inside (a corner of?) the old Coolidge Jr. High gym, I guess that first basketball season after you came up to Natick, and ever-present at practices and of course games, never overbearing, and if I recall correctly, he was there quietly, in steadfast support. He must have glowed during that...
