Richard James Gallagher “Coach” 73 of Point Pleasant passed away Wednesday January 19,2022 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. He was born in Hoboken, NJ. He went to St. Mary of the Plains college in Dodge City,Kansas. He moved to Point Pleasant in 1970 with his beautiful wife Linda pre deceased in 1998, where he raised his two surviving sons Jason and Scott Gallagher.
Richard was a school teacher for Manchester Board of Education. He was a football coach at Manchester High School and a middle school basketball coach. From 1985-1991 Richard coached at Point Pleasant Beach High School, where he finished up his football coaching career.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 26, 2022 from 6-9pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2170 Hwy 88, Brick, NJ. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle NJ.
