Richard Gamble

1942 - 2018

Richard Gamble Richard (Dick) Gamble passed away on August 21, 2018 with his two sons by his side. He was born September 8, 1942 in Bremerton, WA, to Vernon and Dolly Gamble. Dick led an adventurous life and made friends easily. He was artistically gifted and seemed to be able to fix almost anything with his ingenuity. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1961. As a teenager, living in Mountlake Terrace, WA, he worked summers mowing lawns, a paper route, and as the Ice Cream man on a 3-wheeled motorcycle. He first worked as a helper in Heat and Frost Insulators Local Union 7 in 1957 at the age of 15, later becoming an apprentice member in 1962. He worked as a journeyman member of Local 7 for the next 33 years locally and traveling to many jobs in Alaska, Montana and California. He was well liked by his co-workers and was one of the most quick witted and humorous guys on the job. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Gamble, mother, Dolly Gamble and nephew, Doug T. Gamble. He is survived by his two sons, Shawn Gamble and Todd Gamble, his grandson, Robby Rutherford; his sister, Sherry Kenealy and brother, Doug Gamble (Shirley Gamble). Dick was a free spirit who cheated death many times during his life. He spent the last several years of his life living comfortably in an adult community. He was active in the AA program and continued to do so for many of his later years. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Acacia Funeral home, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle WA 98155.
