Not sure what to say?

Not forgotten, all he taught me, trying to pass the torch. Miss him still.

To the Garibaldi Family - I only recently learned of Dr. G's passing and am deeply saddened. I was a resident at UConn from 1989-92, and he truly helped me find my direction and sense of self-worth. I am eternally grateful for his kindness and leadership. I am so sorry for your loss. He is missed by many.

Dear Garibaldi family,

I just learned the news of Dr. Garibaldi's passing.

I was a resident in Internal Medicine at UConn from 1985-88. I remember Dr. Garibaldi as an extremely kind and decent man. There are very few full professors or department chairs who had a door as open, even for the greenest interns or most over-stressed residents, as Dick Garibaldi did. He was a mentor to me. Despite his impressive accomplishments, he was remarkably humble and approachable. He...

Dear Mrs Garibaldi, Karen, Christine, Susanne, Richard and your families, I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Garibaldi's passing. He was a constant and kind presence in our lives as young soccer players as he kept watch, gave thoughtful advice, and kept us well. My sincere sympathy, Colleen Balch

Dearest Lorraine:

I was sure that we would see you, Dick, and the children in Conn. some day. It was looking like this year might be the year. My search for him on the internet a few minutes agoled to the saddest news I have had since my Mother died 6 years ago. Words fail me. He remained such a friend even though we spoke only once or twice since we visited with you in Salt Lake. We are so filled with memories of shared time and fun in the youth of our lives. Who can forget...

Dear Mrs. Garibaldi and family,
I just learned of Dr. Garibaldi's death, and I am so sorry for all of you. Please accept my condolences and sweet memories from my residency years at UConn Health Center (1982-86, though it was in my last year as chief resident that we spent the most time together) sitting in his office in the afternoons reviewing cases and housestaff and life in general (usually mine), though I did hear about what "the kids" were up to, and thought them lucky to have...

To the Garibaldi family,
My brother brought the news of Richard's passing to our Thanksgiving table yesterday. I was stunned and saddened though I have not seen him since he was a teenager. My back yard was adjacent to his, so we played "catch" until I could no longer keep up with the strength of his arm. I was two years older than Richard and could see that he was a wonderful human being. When I entered the convent I knew that his life would be a blessing for others. I have read his...

Dear Mrs. Garibaldi

Please accept my heartfelt condoleances. I worked with Dr. G. from 1983-1993 and he has been a great mentor and friend to me and so many other junior faculty. He was the best listener I've ever met. He was a generous and empathic leader so rare in the rough annd tumble of the academia.

May God rest his soul and may he be remembered with love by the hundreds he touched with his kindness!

Dear Lorraine,
I was just reading the APIC web page when I heard the news of Dick's passing. Our prayers and thoughts are with you . Although I hadn't seen Dick in many years I have always been proud to be able to call him a friend and a colleague. He was always a fresh voice of reason and compassion and his sense of humor was second to none. His passing is a tremendous loss to all . I particularly remember the Editorial Board meetings and the fun "Walks" that DIck took us on. You and...
