Not sure what to say?

Richard Gearhart was a steady, dependable man who filled his life with good works and generosity. Seeing his name again in this obituary reminded me we should all be so fortunate. I know Sally misses him terribly, but also recognize she is enjoying her time with her friends at Oakmont. Thank you for reminding me.

Miss our conversations at FUMC during coffee times.

It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Dick’s passing. Even as he endured the challenges of an incurable illness, he was a model for all of us on how to live life fully. The legacy of his kindness and generosity lives on in his beloved wife, Sally. She always shared — and still acts on — Dick’s belief in the fundamental goodness of other people, whether longtime friends from their church or strangers down on their luck.

Sally,
I was privileged to have wonderful political conversations with Dick. He definitely loved to teach about history! I will miss you and Dick. I hope that any advice I gave you as his oncology nurse was of great benefit for him. May his memory be eternal!

Long ago I worked with Mr. Gearhart as he was known at Marin County Personnel. He was a fair, courteous and kind leader of our department. His obituary describes his warm and valued life. My sympathy for a good man.

I would like to express my condolences to the family for your loss. May the God who comforts those that mourn sustain you during this difficult time. Isaiah 61:1,2

We were fortunate to have Dick as our neighbor in Oakmont for the past three years. To the end, Dick remained engaged with and concerned about his community, even writing thoughtful letters to the editor. He set an example all of us can learn from. Our heartfelt condolences to Sally and all the family.
