Not sure what to say?

Richard would fly into our 6th form music history class at the Conn, head to the piano and play a perfect cadence stopping just short of the end, and he'd wait. That stopped us in our tracks and it wasn't long before someone, usually a piano major, ran up to resolved it. What a way to get our attention saying nothing of a lesson in tension and release in music. I count my blessings I had Richard as a teacher, director and mentor. He convinced me to pursue music education and I am forever...

After a career of 37 years teaching and directing Drama at Kambala School I will never forget my first production in 1976, an operetta, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, lyrics and music composed by Richard Gill.
Richard was a hoot and delight to work with, the rehearsal process full of fun, laughter, joy and busy creativity. It certainly was a marvellous introduction to many (then) little girls to the magic of music and theatre and the thrill and pride of performance.

When I was a young music education student, Richard showed us all what it was like to be a music teacher and I shall always be grateful for that. He inspired my work as a teacher every day. Thanks a bunch, mate. Dave.

That day in July!

So glad I saw him in July at the City Recital Hall for a flash mob choir. He had a leave pass from the hospital and arrived with plaster on his arm where possibly a drip had been. Nonetheless he led the group enthusiastically and energetically through their paces. He just kept giving, even though he was hospitalised. After the hour was up he was to return to the hospital. A great memory.
Thank you Richard Gill

Richard touched the hearts of millions with his passion for music education for young children but also classical music and opera, which influenced and nurtured many an aspiring opera singer and musician. He is without a doubt an Australian National Treasure and should be remembered as such because he made an impact globally with his knowledge and expertise in the many facets of music. He was a mentor, one of my teachers at the Conservatorium of Music, my OA opera chorus master, and he...

The Dalcroze community across Australia extends its deepest sympathy to Richard's family for their loss. We are grateful for Richard's leadership, passion and advocacy for quality music education embracing active listening, singing, movement and improvisation. May the zeal and ideas triggered in so many by his vibrant teaching continue to resonate throughout the country for years to come. His legacy and inspiration is immeasurable; a true legend.

So thrilled that I attended workshops for music teachers in Perth, such an inspirational teacher. Then to attend Victorian Opera's wonderful productions under Richard's leadership.

Dear Richard you left us too early. We mourn your great loss and cherish knowing you.
I collaborated with Richard, firstly as an opera singer in the world premiere of 'Lindy' for Opera Australia at the Sydney Opera House. Richard's immense musicality and sense of humour (always)
was inspiring and he was instrumental in the success
the opera achieved.
Secondly we adjudicated on a panel together for some major operatic competitions. I really enjoyed his infectious...
