Former Lynn resident, Verizon employeeNAPLES, FL - Richard C. "Rick" Gill, 64, of Naples, FL, formerly of Lynn, passed away August 1, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Suzanne M. (Riley) Gill, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.Rick was born in Lynn, son of the late Henry C. and Helen (Downey) Gill. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1961, and attended UMass Labor Studies, Merrimac College and graduated from Harvard Business School in 1978. He has resided in Florida since 1991 and previously resided in Lynn.Rick worked at Verizon (Formerly Nynex, New England Telephone) Lynn Office as a Central Office Equipment Installer for over 40 years until his retirement in 2001.He was a member of the Lynn Democratic City Committee for 21 years, Little League staff District 16. He served on the executive Board of the North Shore Labor Council, North Shore Camp Fire girls and the Greater Lynn Babe Ruth. He served as Vice President of Mass State Labor Council, Past Vice President of Wyoma Little League, Past President of East Lynn Pop Warner. He was also Business Manager and Financial Secretary of I.B.E.W. 2321. Rick was the Assistant Coach of St. Mary's Hockey , was a coach of Lynn Youth Hockey and also was an Assistant Hockey Coach at Austin Prep. He was a member of the Marco Island Knights of Columbus Council #6344 and was a former member of the Nahant Knights of Columbus. He was a long time member of Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 10 where he also served as recording secretary. Rick also volunteered to raise awareness for neurofibromatosis.In addition to his wife, he leaves one daughter Kara M. Seidler and her husband Brett of Lehigh Acres, FL, two sisters Carol Holz of Jefferson, WI, and Barbara Beaulieu of Bradford, seven grandchildren Abigail Tavernese, Liam Gill, Seamus Gill, Tessa Seidler, Katherine Seidler, Hailey Gill, and Richard Gill. Father in law of Pam DeMarco of Lynn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.He was father of the late Richard P. "Ricky" Gill.Service Information: Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St., Lynn Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:30 AM.
