I'm so sorry to hear this about Gio. We were on the same shift in the early 80's. My best memory of him was when he and I were assigned to come in to work in plain clothes. Our assignment was to pick up two prosecutes on Fifth St. They were two males, dressed as females. No one expected us to succeed, but we were able to pick up one and after being solicited, made an arrest. I never knew what became of Gio after he left, but I thought of him often. Praying for everyone.
