Cluster of 50 Memorial Trees

It was a wonderful gathering today at the Old Church. Rick would have loved seeing so many friends and family reuniting to celebrate the beautiful and peaceful soul he shared with all of us. I first began playing with Rick in the early 80's and shared the bandstand with him on several occasions including the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, Zoo jazz, the PC&S Tavern , Delevan's (later Remo's), the Hobbit and other venues. I knew him to be a gentle man yet an extremely dedicated musician and...

Rick was an amazing teacher. I was lucky enough to enter his classroom to assist a couple times a week. I loved that he greeted each student by name upon walking into his class. His smile was infectious. I was brought to tears at times watching him reach out to kids through music. Even the roughest kid blossomed in his class through music. Truly a great man. I just want to say one last time...Thank you Mr. Greene.

Rick was a great friend. He taught me so much about music, teaching and about life. He always had a joyful smile, kind words and encouragement for me and everyone he knew. I will always keep the memory of him alive and in my heart. I will miss you my friend.

Rick had such a great outlook on life. I loved hearing about his travels and golf. He taught me so much in music ,when i would assist in his classroom. He would test me with a smile on his face. He will truly be missed. Prayers for his family during this difficult time.

Rick was a soulful and talented saxophonist, who was humble despite his great musical ability, and who was also friendly and supportive of my musical efforts at jazz jams we attended together. I'll miss hearing his music and miss his friendship.

Rick was a bright light, and will be missed by many. I am grateful to have known his sweet presence as my cousin and inspiration for things musical. To grace and devotion!

I am so sad to hear of Rick's passing. My thoughts are with Mary, Nina and the family. I will always remember Rick and will think of him playing in a jazz quartet in heaven.

May Rick enjoy peace and beautiful sounds. He was an inspiration to many.
