Richard C. Guarry, Sr., 81, of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away Sunday, November 25th, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.

Richard was born in Pen Argyl, PA on August 4, 1937, a son of the late Ralph C. and Jennie (Catino) Guarry.

He was the husband of Patricia L. (Hunt) Guarry. They celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary this past October. He was a 1956 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and a 1961 graduate of LaSalle University. Richard was a Public Accountant and owner and operator of R.C. Guarry & Associates, Inc. in Pen Argyl, PA. Prior to that, he was the manager of accounting for Mack Truck Company for 36 years. Richard was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for various organizations in the Slate Belt area.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Parish in Pen Argyl, PA. Richard was also a member of the PA Society of Public Accountants, a member of the Fr. DeNisco Knights of Columbus, served on the founder's committee for the Slate Belt YMCA, was former President and member of the Wind Gap Athletic Assoc., and a former President and member of the Pen Argyl Green and White Athletic Assoc.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, Richard is survived by a daughter, Vanessa Pasch, wife of Michael, a son, Richad C. Guarry, Jr., husband of Stephanie, two stepdaughters, Joelene Novak, and Jessica Ceraul, a stepson, David "Buffy" Bonser, husband of Krista, a brother, Sigmund Guarry, and 10 grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by two sisters; Mamie Heisler and Nancy Miller, and a brother Rev. Gus R. Guarry

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, November 29th, at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Parish, 300 W. Babbit Ave., Pen Argyl, PA with Msgr. Vincent York officiating. Family and friends are invited to call 9 to 11 AM on Thursday, November 29th, at the church. Burial will be held at the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery, Pen Argyl, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Pen Argyl, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com

So sorry to hear about Richard's passing. I could always count on him lighting up my telephone with challenging accounting questions,keeping me on my toes and a good laugh. May you rest in peace and may your family find peace in knowing that you look down from above.

Dear Patty and family, We are so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. My son just died in June and grief is just awful. I'm so sorry you must endure this. Richard gave us all so many wonderful Santa Clause memories. He was a great man. Christmas will hard for us both to endure but the real meaning of Christ's birth will help us get through it.
