Not sure what to say?

Ruthann, Dan, and Natalie:
We are passing this along from our 5 children in various states who all expressed great sadness when we called them and told them about "Gummer." Our kids were still small when we dragged them to boat races, the Xenia tornado, parades, etc. wherever we were offering our ham radio services and Gummer was always there. They delighted in going because they knew they were going to be able to "bug Gummer" as one of our sons always said. Dick was a true friend to...

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Dick. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Let us know if we can do anything to help in your time of need.

I did not see Gummer very much, (as I did not often go out in the middle of the night :-) ), but he was definitely part of my family. For the past 20 years, my husband Radar spent most of his nighttime working hours with Dick. Gummer sent his advice and words of wisdom back to me through Radar. And he always had strong opinions! Ruthann and Family,
Although I hadn't seen Dick since he was a boy, I feel the loss of your brother. Another member of the Granzow-Gummer clan has left us much too soon. Our sympathy to you; our thoughts and prayers are with you in the days ahead.
With love,
Fred Schmidt - a cousin through the Granzow family

Ruthann, Dan and Natalie,
We are very sorry to hear about Dick passing away. Our prayers are with you during this difficult time.

All of us in the ham radio community will miss Dick. We will honor him with our thoughts at the Dayton Hamvention in May, the one time each year when many of us get together.

I first new Dick in nursery school (The Gingerbread House) and went through high school with him. My father was a ham radio operator and was an advisor for the radio club at the Oakwood Y of which Dick was one of the original members. He was amazed at Dick's technical ability and the fact that Dick received his ham license at such a young age. If my father were alive today he would have been very proud of Dick's life long involvment in amateur radio. From my personal contact with Dick, ...

Life long Friend of Amateur Radio..Worked with Dick during the Xenia Tornado and many other public Service events..Our sympathy to the family.

Oakwood has lost one of it's most colorful and storied citizens and society one of it's strongest supporters of liberty. He will be sorely missed.
