Not sure what to say?

Dear Richard Gunn Family,
I am a first cousin of Dick. My mother was Rhoda Gunn Stay Leroy's sister. My condolances go out to all of you. I lost my wife, Norma, of 62 years two weeks ago today. Our generation is graduating on.
I had Dick speak at our last family reunion in 1998 and I was amaised at what he had accomplished on the Gunn geneology.
The Gunn clan will miss him.

As an art student some 45 years ago at BYU, I remember Richard Gunn as an exceptionally talented teacher who urged his students to recognize their creative potential and settle for nothing less than their best. He was a man hard to forget and a teacher impossible to equal.

Professor Gunn was my BYU Art Department Advisor, mentor, favorite art history teacher, and the King of Puns. He was also Howard's BYU Bishop, gave us great advice and came to our 1968 wedding in the Manti Temple. Remembering him makes me smile and brings back wonderful memories.

Thank you so much Brother Gunn for all of the fantastic stories you shared with us during your famous Sunday dinners when I was up in Provo for school. I always looked forward to hearing them and loved hanging out with two of the most wonderful people that I know. Thank you again for your wonderful example!

I always felt uplifted and enlightened after spending even a few minutes with him.

Candy and Becky, My thoughts are with you and your family as you say farewell to your dad. My memory of your father was knowing that he placed the star that shown brightly over the hilltop at night greeting us as we drove for home. I always enjoyed that special gift he gave to the world in memory of our Saviors birth and the light He shared while on the earth. I have thought about you often as a climb the hill to mom and dads home. We had some great times as youth before the ward was...

I had the privilege of taking an art appreciation class from Bro Fun in Grenoble, France. He opened the world of art for me. He was one of my favorite teachers, knowledgeable, kind and funny. I remember him with great affection.

Richard Gunn was one of the greatest treasures BYU ever had. His name meant originality, wit, energy, aliveness; he was a man who taught by example as well as by wise precepts.
