Not sure what to say?

You were a great teacher, always loved our talks .

"Snails and slugs are gastropods. I knew that – thank you, Mr. Guthrie from junior year’s high school geology class." I wrote that in my blog last night and then wondered about one of my favorite teachers ... and came upon this, this morning. I LOVED his class. We had so much fun smelling and licking rocks! We did a trilobite dig in southern IL before the area turned into a reservoir - back in 1974. It was fabulous! Who else but him would take a bunch of nerdy kids to do that? He had such a...

Rest in Peace Mr. Guthrie , Thank You for Your Service, and thank you for all you taught me and letting me help work the weather station at Maine East. I learned allot from you , you were a great teacher .

From 1972 to 1976 I had the pleasure of having this man as a teacher. What a wonderful experience it was. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Our condolences go out to the Guthrie family. He truly was a great man. My husband and I met in his Earth Science class at Maine East High School, class of 1972. I monitored his weather station.
We often think of him fondly. His unique phrases continue to come out of our mouths - when we see a gorgeous sunrise or see a storm front (we hear him say "It's an interphase!")
Thank you Mr. Guthrie for your knowledge, enthusiasm for science and compassionate teaching. You continue to...

Mr. Guthrie was my science teacher in Maine East back in the mid to late 80s. He was one of my favorite teachers. I was just telling my oldest son a story about Mr Guthrie's class. I had answered a question wrong because I wasn't paying attention. He (in fun)tossed a chalkboard eraser at me and I paid attentiin after that! He was a good, fun teacher. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing

Our condolences go out to the Guthrie family. He truly was a great man. My husband and I met in his Earth Science class at Maine East High School (class of '72). I monitored his weather station. And despite the fact that we have not seen him since June of 1972, we think of him fondly. His unique phrases continue to come out of our mouths - when we see a gorgeous sunrise or see a storm front (we hear him say "That is an interphase!")
Thank you Mr. Guthrie for your knowledge,...

My Sincere Condolences to the entire Guthrie family. Mr. Guthrie was instrumental and so influential in molding me into the athlete and person I am today. I have such fond memories of running with him all those years through the streets of Palatine and him inspiring us all. I will hold you all very close in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Mr. Guthrie and Thank You!!!
