We were proud to display WW II memorabilia for Richard and Geneva in our museum exhibit, "Lemon Grove In World War II" in 2002-2003. This "Greatest Generation" family did us proud in a world conflict and continued to do us proud throughout all the years of their remarkable marriage. The Board of the Lemon Grove Historical Society sends deepest sympathy to Geneva and the family for the loss of a fine American.

My family home was around the corner. As a boy, I spent many a day playing outside the Halverson home.

Hal was one of the nicest men I ever met and he and Jenny always seemed to be smiling. (What a great love affair.)
I never knew about his WWII service and I will always regret this, and my failure (as a pesky neighor kid) to corner him and lure him into telling me some of the fantastic stories I'm sure he could tell about his extraordinary life.

I served with Hal at NPC back in the 60s. I plan to attend the Funeral Mass at St John of the Cross. Some years back I did see Hal at my Parish -Santa Sophia.GOD BLESS
