Not sure what to say?

Dr. Hamilton was a wonderful pastor, mentor, and example of a preacher. I felt privileged to know him. I invited him to speak at Franklin United Methodist Home to the Men's Club. He and his brother both spoke so well.

I was so sorry to hear of Dick´s death. My wife Nora and I attended North Church in the early 1990´s. Dick was a good friend and mentor to us during that time. His preaching, pastoral care, and tennis playing where an important part of our lives in Indy. He urged me to go back into the pastoral ministry and is responsible for my serving my former parish for 23 years prior to my own retirement.

His father was my pastor as a youth, they were both fine pastors, sharing a dedication to our Lord and the Church. Anna Lee's brother Bill also a friend at that time.

In the mid 70's I was a student at CTS and attended North Church prior to receiving my first United Methodist appointment as a pastor. Dick was a very gracious mentor and pastor. We need more like him in both theology and pastoral care.

Dr. Hamilton was my minister at North UMC where my wife, Joyce, and I were married. He was a mentor to me when I received my call into ministry, and when I graduated from seminary, he also counseled me in my early days in ministry. Richard was a model for preaching and an example of what a minister should be. I tried to emulate him in my clergy life and career. The world is a better place for his presence, his prayers, and his ministry.

One of the most grace-filled souls I have ever met.

Since then through my 40 years of active ministry and 8 1/2 year of retirement, Dick Hamilton was one of the pastors I most admired looked up to and sought to emulate in the combination of his passion for social justice, courage to speak out and care for the people in his congregation. On a personal level I appreciated and sought to follow his simplicity, humility, and kindness. He could speak strongly on issues in society and...

It was my privilege to serve with Dick on clergy staff at Methodist Temple, Evansville. Truly a mentor, colleague and friend. God's work of peace with justice was his. Only fond and grateful memories stay with me. Grace and peace to the family.
