HAMLIN, Richard Reagan "Dick," departed this life on February 9, 2010. He was the widower of Florence Leigh Jett Hamlin. He is survived by a daughter, Peyton Martell of Winter Park, Fla.; and a son, Rick Hamlin and wife, Jane; grandchildren, Laura Jett Hamlin Weiler and husband, Jonathan, and Richard Reagan Hamlin III and fiancee, Austin Cashman. Under an imposing and sometimes gruff exterior, he was a sweet and compassionate man who helped many people. He leaves behind countless friends who admired the example he set. Now he joins his beloved wife of 53 years, I.G., in heaven, to rest on the screen porch and feel the breeze, listen to Count Basie's jazz, and look out at the bay. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Not sure what to say?

Peyton,
Ron and I just learned of your Dad's death as we are away for the winter. He was such fun and a joy to have as a friend. We looked forward to having dinner together at Fairport marina most Thursday evenings with lots of jokes and talk of golf. Always included were a kiss and hug. We all now surely have an angel looking down on us. We will miss him greatly.

I am privileged to have known Dick for 46 years. There are so many memories. He was a unique and wonderful man and I am glad to have shared his life.

Best uncle & godfather ever! He taught me to drink coffee, black, the right way. He loved his family and he loved life. I love him.

I'm so proud to say that I knew Dick. What a sweet, wonderful man. All my love to the Hamlin family.

I am so sad to hear about Mr. Hamlin. He was my Dad's best friend. I have so many fond memories of him. He was always so kind and sweet to me. I feel as if we have lost a member of our family.

Peyton and Rick,
I am so sorry to hear about Dick's sudden passing. He was a very fortunate man to live a long, full, and happy life. Dick is now in heaven with IG, family and many dear friends who are looking down on us every day with a smile. I know there will not be a day that goes by that you will not miss him. He is in all of our hearts and souls for ever.
Love,
