Richard Alan Harris

Richard A. Harris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly. He was a beacon of warmth, wisdom, and humor to all who knew him. He also spent 45 amazing years at GE, where he built countless relationships along the way before he retired.

Richard was the cherished husband of Mariann Harris, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they raised three devoted sons: Richard Harris Jr., Eric M. Harris, and Branden L Harris, each of whom carried forward their father’s values of strength, compassion, and resilience. Richard was the proud and loving Papa to four beautiful grandchildren—Jayden, Ethan, Evan, and Kai—who brought him endless joy and laughter.  In addition, Richard is survived by his sister Karen Harris Forx and her children, Eric Malik Jones and Cody Forx, his sister Nancy Harris and his brother Sydney W. Harris and his wife Susan and their children, Sydney, Amy, Stephanie, Ashley, Meghan and Taylor.   He was the brother of the late Michael P. Harris.

Born and raised just outside of Boston, Richard was deeply rooted in his hometown pride, a passion that carried through his enduring love for the Boston sports teams. Whether it was the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, or Bruins, Richard's spirited support was unwavering—a reflection of his deep connection to the city that shaped him.

A lifelong learner, Richard attended Berkshire Community College, Salem State, and North Shore Community College. His pursuit of education reflected his dedication to personal growth and his belief in the power of knowledge.

In his later years, Richard remained active and vibrant, playing Lynn Park softball, GE softball, and basketball until the age of 60. These games were more than just a pastime; they were a testament to his vitality, camaraderie, and love for the community.

Above all, Richard was a devoted family man. He was the greatest Father, Papa, and Friend, whose love and support were the foundation of his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, as his legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication continues to inspire. Richard A. Harris will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain forever cherished by his family and friends.
