Not sure what to say?

I had great respect for Dick because of his very successful business career and his outstanding achievements in several sports. He was one of the greatest competitors whether the sportbe golf, tennis, paddle tennis or pickle ball. More importantly, he was a great husband, father & grandfather. He was also one of the most highly principled individuals I have ever met and his standards were exceptionally high & admirable. We all lost an extraordinary friend who will never be forgotten. High school and college years (for us) we´re a good time and also a time of good. Rosemary, I trust that continued for you and your family for these many years as you and Dick are people of faith and strong values, and that doesn´t change. Dennis Sullivan

I still well remember watching Dick Haverland and Dud Humphrey WIN the West Penn Open Platform Tennis Championship at the Fox Chapel Racquet Club in Pittsburgh, in about 1974, when I was a young and aspiring paddle player there. Amazing guy and great team. So sad to lose him!

Last time I saw you, Richard, we were in Florida. I live in North Smithfield RI now! I am not doing well! I am suffering from Liver Cancer and at Home HOSPICE! The VA is providing care. See you soon!!! GK, CHS´59

Rest in Peace, Dick. May God strengthen your family during this time of sorrow. I knew Dick from Chaminade, and enjoyed seeing him again at our 50th reunion in 2009.

Dick and I were classmates at Chaminade where he was a friend to all and a good football player, too. For all his notable accomplishments, Dick remained down-to-earth and humble. Just a great success as a human being! May he rest in peace.
