Richard "Richie" Paul Hoffman, born on September 12, 1936 in New York, New York, passed away at age 82 on November 9, 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA in 1960 where he played basketball for the Gamecocks and was a member of Sigma Chi. Richie owned RICH HOFFMAN & ASSOCIATES REAL ESTATE. A beloved long-time island resident and icon, Richie was married to the late Vivian Elaine Hoffman. He is survived by his son, RICHARD KEVIN HOFFMAN (MARY); grandchildren KRISTIN ELAINE & RICHARD WILLIAM; daughter, TRACY LYNN HOFFMAN; brother, KENNETH HOFFMAN; and sister, JOAN GRILLO. Richie enjoyed golfing, fishing, and socializing. Donations in Richie's name to The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation are welcome and appreciated. Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of life, officiated by Steve Chisholm, on Tuesday, November 27 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Church, 50 Pope Ave, Hilton Head, South Carolina, 29928 and Reilley's following.

Richie loved sports and especially loved watching his kids play. He had a great sense of humor and was someone who really cared about other people. Rich was a true islander.
