Not sure what to say?

Richard was my Company Commander in Korea, Company C, 1st BN 17th Infantry. I knew him as CPT. Holmes. We both were assigned to C co, at about the same time, he as Commander and I as Commo Chief. He showed me to be a kind caring man who saw the best in others. He had faith and confidence in me to do the job. I can not understate how much that meant to me. He left us too soon.

I knew Rick from riding the bus to O'Dowd from Castro Valley. I remember him as a nice guy although somewhat shy. My condolences and prayers to the family. He was way too young to leave this life. Rest In Peace Rick.

Prayers and condolences to the family. I was a classmate at Bishop O'Dowd High School.

My condolences to the family. I grew up in Oakland and attended O'Dowd HS Class of '67. Heard through FB about Rick's passing. Will keep all the family in my prayers. RIP Rick

I was friends with Rick in 4-H and High School. Along with two other friends in 4-H, we were known as the "Bartley Brothers." We had a lot of fun in those days and in my eyes Rick really enjoyed life. He worked hard in school and during after hours at Safeway; Rick was one of the first to buy a motor cycle and a car (Jaguar X-KE no less!). We both left the Bay Area not long after high school so we hadn't seen each other for a long time. However I was glad to have the opportunity to talk to...

I really liked Rick. I was a shift manager at McDonald's in Billings, Mt for the wonderful Newbury family, and always respected him. So sorry to you, his family and friends, for this loss to you. I pray he is with the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven and you will all see him again. God bless your family and may God fill that void and hope fill your hearts. Sincerely, Joyce Dorman

I had the pleasure of working with Rick for several years at McDonald's. He was loved and respected by his McDonald's family. May God bless his family and friends with peace, comfort, and warm memories. RIP Rick...

Rick was a standup guy and always made my organization stronger. He will be missed

RIP and Godspeed Rick. You will be missed...
