Dick, unfortunately I just found out about your passing two years after you went to the Lord. I knew you well through your fine Dad Wendell who was as a father to all of us at Stoneham High. I so enjoyed playing against your Senior team in Reading on Thanksgiving day with that wonderful team you Captained and Quarterbacked. In your leave of presence, as expected, you pulled a few stings and made sure the Red Sox won in Boston. How about taking one for the team and helping the Yankees next year? Think about and let us know in the spring. I will forever wish we had more time with you, especially now with Grayson...but what will be, will be. I am one of the lucky ones to have gotten to know you and could not have picked a better father-in-law. Grayson will live and thrive through your legacy. RIP

Grew up in Reading with Dick and played Little League baseball with him on the "Red Sox". Also, a Dartmouth classmate. Wonderful guy and sportsman. My deepest condolences to his family. Hank Amon (New York City)

So sad to learn this news! Went to Reading High and Dartmouth College with Dick and always thought of him as the ultimate class act. Although we never kept in close contact after high school graduation I always thought of him as a terrific role model and leader---what an incredible athlete and an even better person! My heartfelt condolences to his family.
