Richard Charles HOWLAND

I just saw that Dr. Howland had passed away. He was my doctor in Spokane when I was a child--I had club feet and he corrected them over a period of years. In a strange coincidence, Dr. Howland was my dad's childhood friend in Toledo, Ohio and they ran into each other in the hospital doctor's lounge in the early 70s. I remember a kind and compassionate man because I was so scared of surgery. Through his help, I was able to lead a full and active life.

Thanks for teaching me how to catch a polar bear...

Karen and Chris, TJ and I are so sorry to hear of Dicks passing. I have many fond memories of him from when we both worked at Holy Family as well as some fun times at the Wilderness Medical Society meetings in Montana. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
