What a remarkable person your dad was, Eric, Julie and Martha. I have so many memories of times spent together as families -- sharing meals at Westminster and in our homes, enjoying Camp Henry, and marveling at all of his many projects. Peace to you now and always; he leaves so much goodness in his wake.

Back in 1993, I was a 21 year old engineering student who was working on restoring an old Volkswagen. I pulled into a small car show at the VW dealer off 28th street in Grand Rapids and Dick made his way over to me. Before I knew it, he was asking about my plans for summer. His generosity and commitment to my success changed the direction of my career and my life. I am forever...

As a Volunteer Manager, I worked with Dick at the Grand Rapids Public Museum where he was a volunteer every Friday afternoon in the Streets of Old Grand Rapids Fire Hose. Dick was ever faithful to his shift and went above and beyond in engaging with guests by sharing videos of fire horses in action and exciting tales of how things worked "back the old days." Other volunteers looked forward to chatting with him each week. I know he did not return...

I haven´t seen Dick in three years because I moved to Virginia, but before that I would see him at church, of course and think about the old days when he and Liz and Dick and Barb, Dean and I Bernadettr and in Mike, Linda and Tom would get together. Your father was the nicest man ever and he married the nicest woman ever. I´m happy that they are together again.

Condolences tp Julie, Eric and Martha and their families on this loss. Cliff and I attended Liz's funeral, which I remember well. I hope that Dick's will be a positive and healing event for you all. I made a contribution to Degage in honor of Dick but forgot to write in his name - it sounds like a wonderful organization. Love, Lisa Earle
