Not sure what to say?

I just learned the news of Rich's passing.
I worked with Rich and Mary Ann.
I am saddened Rich left us early in life, he was a beautiful man inside and out.
He was an inspiration to all with a great sense of humor and dedication.
My condolences and prayers to all his friends and family.

Wow, I am truly shocked and bummed to hear of Rich's passing. He and I practiced law at Baker & Botts for a few years (1985-87) and spent quite a bit of time together out of the office, mostly drinking a few beers and talking sports or current events. He was hilarious, extremely smart and interesting. We used to win a little money betting on college basketball together -- he was uncanny at knowing when the published odds on obscure games were way off. And I will never forget watching the...

Thank you for guiding me through a most difficult time. I'll never forget you.

Dear Ryan:

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Rich. He was a wonderful man and he was a great friend as well. I share in your grief at our sad loss.
I will never forget all that he did for me while I was in Houston. From driving him to hearings, attending your holiday parties, and allowing me to stay in the guest house while I was between homes.
I never heard an ill word spoken of him. He was kind, compassionate, and a true gentleman. Sadly there are few people like...

A year and a few months have now passed. They say that time heals all wounds, the wound is still there. I am able to bear the pain better, but I miss him as much as the day he left us. Tomas I do want to thank you for hosting this forum. It is a generous and lasting gift. Thank you.

I am very sorry for your loss, Ryan.

Ryan, I saw my calendar and realized a year has already passed. I still think often of Rich, and miss him dearly. I pray that you are doing well and I am happy to be able to have given this little forum for all of those people who, like you, loved and dearly miss Rich.

Take care of your self.

I just got an email alerting me to a new post in this Guest Book. I see that it is the one year anniversary of Rich 's death. Many things are written about people after they have died, and many things are said that weren't necessarily true just because people soften the truth when a person has died. Rich is one of the few people that I can say the good things were indeed genuinely true in life as in death. I wish I had been able to know him more. Ryan I am so truly sorry for your...

It is so hard to remember that we saw and heard Rick for the last time one year ago today. But, know this: we all love him 365 days more than on that awful day.
the gap left in our lives that day can never be filled.
