Dick Hyder was a joy to talk to. I will never forget the conversation we had about college team mascots. Any team I said he could tell me their mascot. It was an honor to have known and cared for him.
Blessings to the family.

The day before Valentine's day I said my goodbyes to my dear Uncle Dick--my only Uncle and 2nd Father. I am deeply saddened by his passing. Uncle Dick was a very respected and wonderful Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Educator and friend to all. He was always a gentleman with a gentle soul--I never knew him to hold a grudge against anyone. Our hearts are heavier with our loss, but we will remember the warm memories and move on--inspired by his kindness and selfless dedication to be the best...

After meeting him through his son Tim and as I learned about him and got to know him further you knew that he was a great person. His accomplishments in family, education, sports, and as a veteran established his legacy to others and speaks for itself. God bless.

Dick and my parents Henry & Mary Ann Schwarz were good friends. He and Dad played football together at ESHS. They both always talked so highly of the other and shared a lot of stories. Dick would frequently come into John S. Lewis Clothing Co. where my brother & I worked some while in high school and in college. He always wanted to know what was going on in our family and he was such a good guy to visit with. He was a true role model to so many young men and women. My condolences to his...

Dorothy and Family: I want to extend my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I had the privilege of working with Dick for several years as we both supervised student teachers. I so enjoyed his humor and his educational insights, and admired his gentle nature.

Rest in peace, dear friend.

(Excelsior High, class of 69) I am so sorry to hear the news. Many memories of my school years. Prayers God gives you all peace.

Coach Hyder was my coach and my hero....and a positive influence on my life. Rest in peace.
