ANSONIA: Richard D. Joaquin, 68, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2016, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Diosdada Arroyo Joaquin.
Mr. Joaquin was born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1947, son of the late Jose and Katherine Finn Joaquin. He was employed as an aircraft specialist at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for many years until his recent retirement. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Antonio Diaz and Abelexis Rosado of Ansonia and Javier Diaz of Torrington, daughters, Imelda Rivera and Dawn Joaquin of Ansonia and ten cherished grandchildren.
Visiting will be held on Monday February 1, 2016, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 10:00 am, a funeral service in celebration of Richard's life will take place with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. You have my heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences on the loss of Richard. I worked with him for some time at the Dept of Defense Sikorsky Aircraft office. He was a kind and gentle man and I know he'll be missed.
