I met Dick & Betty a couple years before Chris was born. They were quite a pair. I knew their sons Sid & Mike too. It was sad to hear that Betty, Sid, Mike & now Dick have passed on.
I moved away and did not keep in touch. I regret that very much. They will always evoke good memories. Especially the dog, (OLY) I gave them for Chris. I can still hear them cussing me as the dog liked dig up Bettys flower beds.
My sincere condolences to Dick, Chris and all the Jones family.

As newlyweds in 1957, my husband Bob and I moved into a home next to Dick and Betty. They were both open, warm and very friendly people, the kids adorable and we soon became very close. We fenced our back yards together so there was room for the boys to practice. We also became very involved with the boys, Dick, Mike and Sid, and their Little League games. I would like to pay my respects to a very loving Grandpa. The memories I have of him in the physical sense are that of a young girl. The two times I had the chance to be around him was very short, but very memorable. Although I do remember a very tall and big man, I never knew anything but gentleness, kindness and love. Our family sends their heartfelt sympathies and condolences. Dick and his family were an integral part of our growing up since our dad worked for Dick & Gene for many, many years. My dad's years with Columbia River Paving were probably his most memorable and productive of his life. We saw Dick and family often in the early days of Columbia Little League and Heights Babe Ruth because he and my dad were very involved with coaching.
