Not sure what to say?

Ciao Richard!

To Sandy and Rich's family, I was deeply sorry to read of Rich's death. Rich was a wonderful mentor and friend during my Penn dissertation years and afterward. He served as an academic advisor on my Reading Ethinic identity project (PHMC grant) that also served as my diss research. I learned so much from his own work, from his deep knowledge, from his recommendations and from our conversations. I will never forget his welcoming smile, laughter, and encouragement. He was always supportive and...

Dr. Juliani was one of my favorite Sociology professors at Temple University in the late 1960’s. He was a great teacher and a good man. I was a Sociology major and Dr. Juliani often helped me with my course choices. May his memory be a blessing.

Dear Sandy and Family - I am so very sorry for your loss. Dr. J, as I called him, was truly my favorite professor at Villanova University. As a Sociology Major, I could only articulate that in my career, I wanted “to help people”. Dr. J mentored me in the art of critical thinking, analysis and meaningful writing. He is the reason I went to law school and enjoyed a wonderful career helping to guide my clients through the civil litigation process. Thank you Dr. J. May you rest in peace. Sandy,...

I met Richard at Notre Dame in the Fall of 1956. We were both entering freshmen and Richard's roommate was from my hometown. Through the years, we would reconnect at our Class of '60 reunions.
Richard was a beautiful person -- with a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor.
Our sympathy and prayers are with you at this time.

Hi I'm very sorry for your loss. You don't know me, though If this is the Richard Juliani who was a professor at at Temple, I'd like to share some thoughts. I was mediocre student going into my senior year at Temple and I had him for a Sociology course. Whether it was Professor Juliani or the course -I'm sure it was both , it was like a switch was turned on. I became an enthusiastic student in a way that I hadn't been. Professor Juliani must have picked up on my my enthusiasm and gave me...

Dear Mrs. Juliani and Family,

I am deeply saddened to hear of Richard’s passing, I express my heartfelt condolences.

If I recall, some thirty years ago I had come to know Professor Juliani upon reading his book “Building Little Italy.” Rich’s many, many works impacted me and have truly left a lasting impression because of the deep connection to South Philly and our shared Italian immigrant ancestry. Over the years we corresponded and Rich was always kind to reply to any...

Dear friend, mentor, teacher, source of laughter, inspirational, brilliant author, chronicler, immigration nerd (I can say that because he made me one too), so much to say about Rich. He made me smile and think and encouraged me to learn more. I learned something new every time we spoke. And he made excellent capuccino. A Dio, caro professore!
