Richard William Kahl, age 70, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023. Richard was born in Highland Park, Michigan on March 22, 1953 to Donald F. and Virginia E. (nee Lowe) Kahl. He graduated from Redford High School in Detroit and took a few college courses.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Rich. Growing up he enjoyed a great neighborhood baseball game or a pickup game of basketball. Rich loved to read and with his eidetic memory he was very witty with a great sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of the American Philatelic Society. A hobby Rich and his sister Laura truly enjoyed together. Dancing was another one of his hidden talents. Along with his lifelong interest in comics, pulps, music and movies he was a very kind man. Always willing to help others especially his brother David. Rich never married and did not have any kids. He always wanted to become a writer and to see his favorite football team (Detroit Lions) win a championship. After ten months he lost his courageous battle with prostate cancer. The last thing he enjoyed was watching the Lions game with his sister. Richard’s memory will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Big Rich!!
Richard is survived by his sister Laura (Eric) Heise, niece Asia (David) Sellin, nephews Kyle (Larissa) Heise, and Michael Quenneville; one great nephew, one great niece and other family and friends.
