Not sure what to say?

Dr. Kates was not only my doctor but a dear friend who was there for me always. I often told him that he could not retire but I was happy for him when he di and his wonderful family. I cherish him, his life, his infinite caring, kindness and complete dedication to his patients. I often think of him and always will, with love. My husband feels the same way and had the utmost regard for him as a physician and as an individual. Our hearts go out to his family and especially to his lovely,...

Dr. Kate's was a wonderful man as well as a great OBGYN. He delivered my son 23 years ago and was so kind and comforting. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family at this time. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed. God Bless

I started seeing Dr. Kate's in 1989 after visiting multiple infertility doctors and pretty much giving up my hope of being a mother. I am so grateful for his knowledge and compassion and now have a son turning 30 this year and daughter age 27. I continued to see him until he retired and was so saddened to hear of his battle with pancreatic cancer. There was no one more deserving of a wonderful retirement. He may no longer be with us, but the joy he brought to so many families lives on. I am...

To the family of Dr. Kates, my wife was fortunate in early 2000 to have Dr. Kates as her doctor. His kindness to her and all of his patients is what was remembered when we read of his death recently. My wife remembers calling his office after learning she had cancer and being comforted by him as he told her he would call her back with the name of a surgeon that would see her that day. He made that call, and his kindness in doing that, is remembered as I write this. Our thanks and prayers...

To the family of Dr. Kates:

Dr. Kates has been my physician for over twenty five years, he was a very gentle caring and knowledgeable doctor and he will be missed. May his soul RIP.

I was lucky enough to be his patient (he delivered my second child) and to work with him for many years at Women's Health Connecticut. Brilliant, kind, caring, thoughtful, beloved by all. The world has lost a shining light. Stay strong, Maxine and family, for he would want you to be well. Sending love and peace to all of you,

Nancy Bernstein

I was so distressed to read of Dick's passing. Although I was a patient in his practice, my ob/gyn was Dr. Jones, so I didn't get to know Dick until he became a player at the Hartford Bridge Club. He was such a gentle, lovely, uncomplaining man despite his most serious disease, & a joy to know. I was happy to advise him a bit in the wonderful game of bridge; he was so appreciative & enthusiastic. My sincere condolences to his family.

I have known the family for many years. I have seen the generations grow up Bar and Bat Mitzvahs-weddings and great family gatherings to be photographed . I could see how Dr. Kates admired his family and being photographed with them was one of his pleasures. He always shared a smile and a good sense of humor with everyone and always made me enjoy working with him and his family. I will a special person like him.

Gynecology and Obstetrics Physicians

We at Gynecology and Obstetrics are so sad about Dick's passing; we were hoping every day that he was loving his life as a retired physician and that his positive attitude and family shielded him from the reality of his illness.
I loved working with Dick every day at G&O. Not only was a he an awesome reproductive endocrinology resource, but he was a very wise and caring primary care practitioner, obstetrician, and surgeon. He was a true model for physician behavior with staff and patients...
