I am extremely sorry to learn of Richard Kleinhenz's passing. I got into penturning in no small part because of Rich. In the beginning I bought a few pens from him. I was excited by what he made for me and decided to get into the craft myself. I admired his analytical intellect and his drive to energize the penturning community. He created the Penturner's Guild of which I am still a member. He will be remembered and missed.

I will always remember meeting Rich in person for the first time in Provo, Utah at the Penturners Rendevous. Years ago we had corresponded via email as Rich had asked me to make name badges for those attending the Rendevous. I was excited to meet this man in person after our interactions. My wife and I arrived late and as we walked in Rich practically ran over to us to introduce himself. His smile immediately engaged my interest and I knew instantly this was a very special person. We...

Hi Linda and Robby,
Whenever I touch a piece of wood especially a small piece I think of Rich. "This would make a nice pen" I gave Rich a big round piece of cherry burl I found in the woods, not sure if it ever became a pen or not? We worked together for many many years on leading edge technology but the discussion always returned to "shop talk". Which band saw was best, which saw blade lasted longest. I was amazed at watching his shop become reality. He was an inspiration to me.

I have known Rich and Linda since 2012 when they became my host parents. They welcomed me with open arms and always made me feel special. They did their best to teach and make the culturally lost international freshman I was get used to the American lifestyle. What I admired the most about Rich was his joy to live ans his passion for robots/mechanics. He will be missed and forever loved. My sincerest condolences to you Linda and Robby.

My condolences to you and your family, I knew Rich for over 20 years involved with the IAP. He was a world of knowledge and he did things his way! I am honored to have his pens in my books.
