Not sure what to say?

I had Professor Kofler for my first two semesters of college for honors physics in 1977/78. I can honestly say that Dr Kofler was the best teaching professor that I ever had, and a terrifically nice person. I could see the joy he had in teaching young people. Although I moved on from UMASS and got my degrees elsewhere, I have thought of him from time to time over the years. It was by chance that I thought of him today and just happened to Google his name and saw that he passed away just...

My sweet Rosemary please know I am thinking of you and the kids. Such a tremendous loss. I loved Dick. He was such a fun guy. When I think of those days of weekends in Vermont ,backyard Barbeques , and family dinners I can still laugh out loud. I will always remember him with love and smiles. Please know I am holding you all very close as you learn how to live without him. I am grateful I got to know you all.

Rosemary, may your heart soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences go out to the family. He will be missed, my thoughts and prayers.

He was such a kind person. I was new to physics and math when I took his freshman class. He was so patient in answering questions, so kind in helping to understand this complicated subject. I will forever remember him for his lovely nature and his kindness.

I was one of Dick's students in the honors first-year physics class he taught in 1976-1977. He was simply amazing. 30 years later, we had a reunion, which I imagine is pretty unusual for a freshman class (it's not like we were his PhD students), but both teacher and students knew that we all had been part of something very special. Thanks, Dick.
