Not sure what to say?

In 1975, I worked for the Sequoia Union High School District in Redwood City. I was sent by the district to run a one room school at Belmont Hill Hospital for the adolescent patients. I did not have any special training at that point, and Dr. Kogl took me under his wing. I learned a lot from him over the next several years. It brings back warm memories to this day.

Dr. Kogl was truly one of our favorite tutors and a long-time volunteer with the San Mateo Public Library's Adult Literacy Program. He made an incredible impact, mentoring a wide range of students - from men in recovery programs to a medical doctor preparing for board exams in this country. His dedication, kindness, and patience left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. We are deeply grateful for his years of service and the meaningful difference he made in the lives of so many....

I had the pleasure of knowing Dr Kogl for over 42 years, and he was very instrumental in my life, as a professional, and as a friend. He was a healer, who happened to be a psychiatrist. A very special individual. Meeting his family was a pleasure, and hearing how he touched their lives was precious. Also, very much enjoyed his granddaughter's singing. She sings like an angel.(: Rest in peace Rich.

Bonnie and I attended Richard's Memorial today. We were moved by this celebration of a life well lived. A life lived by a man who "saw" people, who saw the essential self of who we are, who saw beyond our masks, who saw beyond our personas. And I was reminded in the process of how grateful I am to have shared some of my life with this special man. All of the speakers were wonderfully real and their words were sent from their hearts. And the granddaughter's singing and song selection was...

Rest in peace Dr. Kogl you worked with me over 40 years ago and always remembered your patience and kindness for people and myself. My condolences to your family.

I worked with Dick at Belmont Hills Psychiatric Hospital in the adolescent unit between 1970 and 1975. He held all of us who worked on that unit with kindness, understanding and professional insight. He was a treasure to work with and a wonderful man.

I worked at Napa State Hospital with Dr. Kogl and use to house sit for he and his wife when they went on vacation. While I was still a student at Sonoma State College, he had an incredible library to write term papers. Rest in Peace, Dr. Kogl. Yes, I still remembered you after 50 years!!!
