KRAUSE, Richard E. - Of Flint, age 82, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Bruce Nowacek officiating. Following the funeral service a military service will be conducted by VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. Visitation 12-3 and 5-8PM Monday at the funeral home. Richard was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on July 31, 1923, the son of the late Theodore and Eunice (Davis) Krause. He was raised from 3 years of age by Viva and Harry Farlinger. He served his country in the United States Army, in the South Pacific as a paratrooper and was awarded a Purple Heart. Richard married Alma Williams in Flint, Michigan on June 1, 1946. Richard retired from General Motors, Buick Division, and a member of UAW Local #599. He was a Past Master and life member of Charles A. Durand Lodge #533, F. & A.M., Genesee Valley Commandery #15 of Knights Templar, Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter and Bay City Consistory-Valley of Bay City. He received the 33rd degree in 1979, member of Elf Khurafeh Temple of Flint Shrine Club, life member of Elf Khurafeh Temple Clown unit, and was known as "Sparky the Clown". He always referred to himself as a card carrying clown. Surviving are wife, Alma; son, Jim and wife Marsha of Swartz Creek; daughter, Lynda and husband Robbin Phillips of Genesee; grandchildren, Steven, Theresa and Roxanne; sister, Beverly Hudson of White Lake; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Dallas-Anne and Bryce. A special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Avalon Hospice.

Dick was a good friend and brother, He help me very much during my years going thru the line at lodge.
