LaMOTTA--Richard Edmund. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 20th, 1942, Richard Edmund LaMotta was a larger-than-life unique man, and a true "social entrepreneur". He is best known as "Mr. Chipwich", the inventor of the original Chipwich, the ice cream cookie sandwich, of which he was so proud,...

Not sure what to say?

I would like to extend my condolences to the family of Richard LaMotta. I read about his death in my local paper, The Express-Times from Easton, PA. My mother's maiden name was LaMotta and her father was Dominic LaMotta, a cousin to Jake LaMotta. It seems that we are related, yet I didn't know of any other relatives in the area. I would love to have one of the family contact me. My name is Roseann Zammatore Affa, my e-mail: [email protected] and phone number 610-258-7077.

I met Richard in 1981. I picked him up at 5 am in Santa Monica to go to our factory for a trial run of Chipwich cookies.
By 8 am we were sitting at Nate and Al's having breakfast.
I considered Richard my brother and visa versa.
We shared our successes and comiiserated in our problems and losses.
We had great times- when he was named Business man of the year- I flew into New York and went to Studio 54 where Mayor Koch gave him the award.
When his son passed away I flew...

Dear Elaine and Kayla
I am so sorry to hear about Richard. He was the best Passover host and chef I ever met! I miss you and love you..may his memory be a blessing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Richard was a great friend, always there for me as I was for him. I'll really miss him.

Dear Elaine and Family,

We are deeply saddened by this news.
Richard was a mentor to me, his vision, his wisdom and especially his caring spirit is something I will never forget. I worked for Richard for many years. It all started when Chipwich was an "Idea", then was Chipwich a la Cart, Sunborn, Best of the Best and the rest is History.
I owe my "today" to Richard's encouragement and guidance.
The thoughts and prayers of many people are with you at this time of...

I was 3000 miles away in a hotel sleeping when I was awoken with the sad news. Totally surreal. Though I only knew Richard for a short time, we instantly bonded. I could feel his warmth and sincerity. I loved his entrepreneurship and his passion for marketing. I am committed to helping launch his final project (MD system) to the world in honor of his legacy. From what I saw and experienced, Richard LaMotta left this world a better place because of his presence.
May he rest in peace....

Dear Elaine,

I have known and loved Richard for thirty years and I owe Richard everything that I have accomplished in business, as Richard hired me all those years ago; I have been blessed that Richard remained a dear friend all through my life. I am a better person for knowing him so closely.
