My uncle Eddie was a waist gunner on that fateful B24 flight with Dick. My uncle was killed by enemy fire on the plane. Several years ago, I had the privilege of meeting with Dick and hearing the whole story of that day and his experience after he was captured. We was a great example of the "Greatest Generation."
