Not sure what to say?

Not only have a bunch of us lost a dear friend of 60 years, we will be reminded of it every week as the Michigan football game approaches and we are missing his email telling us, with great insight, what to anticipate. One thought on book collecting and Churchill, it was an honor for artist Rose Jaffe to illustrate three of Dick´s essays on unusual Churchill items in his collection and for us to publish them. We miss a classic book collector and scholar, and a dear friend.

Condolences to Dick's family from a high school, college and fraternity brother. Best memory is golfing with him. Arny.

As a young girl in the 70s and 80s, I remember attending Michigan football games with my dad (one of Dick's Kappa Sigma brothers, and a fellow bibliophile in later years) and often sitting with Dick. He always wore a headset of some sort and listened to the game on the radio while watching in the stadium. He was always a wealth of information on the nuances of the plays and the statistics of the players. I was too young to understand it all, but was always impressed with his knowledge....

I only met Dick after he joined the Clements Library Board of Governors. We hit it off from the start and became good friends. Dick was a big supporter of the Clements and a regular at library sponsored events. I always looked forward to seeing him there. My one regret is that I did not meet him sooner. I will miss him and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

What a wonderful and inspirational obituary! Brian and I want to wish you our deepest condolences. Dick was a wonderful dad, husband, son, uncle, and brother. He did so much for our family and we will be forever grateful. We're sending you prayers and love from Utah. Sincerely, Audrey Gallegos and Brian Brown

What a beautifully written tribute to a life full of accomplishments and highlights. I was so sorry to hear of Dick´s death, and I´m sure he will be greatly missed by the many people he has touched through his lifetime of activities. Thinking of all the Marsh family members.

My late husband (Dave Kempner) shares one of his favorite golf stories with Dick. Dick and Dave ran into each other later in the day at BHCC and played 9 holes together. On the 8th hole they both hit great shots but could not see either ball on the green. When they reached the green both balls were in the hole. The A2 News sport section headlined it "Back-to-back holes in one1"
