I always looked forward to the Sundays that your dad welcomed my family and me to New Providence United Methodist. It wasn't just the always warm handshake and smile he offered, but his caring questions and the way he listened for the answers, the sharing of news of all of you and your accomplishments or new grandchildren as he reluctantly gave us the daily bulletin when the next person entered. Uncle Dick had a good humor, positive attitude and a lot of girls. Runs in the family. I remember him saying that if we keep cutting out the fun things in life, next thing you know, we will be cutting out paper dolls at the loony bin. He helped me out in my career by reiterating my needed focus on safety in the workplace. He was a good man.
