Richard Lionel McCormick

He was my high school history teacher in Gilroy, ca. a great teacher and jokester in the late 60´s.

When I transferred to Gilroy High in 1964 I had been studying violin but found myself in a school with no orchestra. He took me under his wing and encouraged me to continue studying the violin and I spent many pleasurable hours on the weekends "jamming" with him at his home in Aptos. Many afternoons he gave me a ride home in his red MGB. He was a sweet and kind man and I have wonderful memories of him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dick in the early 90's while I was working at the family business, Water Street Stereo. The entire family was wonderful to me and all treated me like one of their own. Dick was basically retired at the time, but would make an effort to visit the store every Saturday and to buy lunch for the crew. I loved talking to Dick. We were both musicians and had much to enjoy in conversation. Dick is one of the kindest men that I've had the honor of knowing. Thank you Dick...
