AYER - Richard F. McHale, 79, a 20-year Army man, died Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Lorraine I. (Guimond) McHale, for 52 years.

Both Rick and Lorraine have been friends of my family for years, and I was saddened to hear of his illness and the circumstances surrounding his death. I remember how he couldn't "compliment me enough" during my parents 50th wedding anniversary party on what a good job he'd thought I'd done. Please accept my condolences.
