Meany, Richard M. (Rich) died unexpectedly at his home in Fairfield, CA at the age of 48.

Rich was known for his quick wit and could always be counted on to provide a bit of humor to any situation. He was happiest when he was with his daughters, Natalie and Megan, and loved to make them...

Not sure what to say?

I just learned of Rich's passing from another coker friend and I'm stunned, shocked and very saddened. May God's peace be with Rich and his family, we'll miss him.

My Brother Rich....Oh Brother how you could fill a room with laughter to the point of tears.Your passing was just too sudden and we wish we could have been there for you at this time..I remember when you were a young pup and Mom putting you on the bus and sending you off to visit your big brother in Sacramento and teaching you to fish and rafting down the river..Great ,great fun times and loads of memories..Growing up as the 7 Meany kids was always a topic of conversation to someone,...

My husband Thomas and I worked with Rich many years ago in Pinole, and we took a road trip to California Jam II in Los Angeles. He was funny, witty, intelligent and a real character. Haven't seen him in years, but still remember the laughs and good times we had way back then. Condolences to the family.

To the Meany Family and Friends,
I have many great memories of Rich. We worked together for quite while at the old Union Oil/Unocal Coker plant. Rich and I used to cut up together all the time and yes... his quick wit and sense of humor were like working with Jay Leno. I'm so sorry the world has lost a great man and Father. Feel free to contact me via email if there is anything I can do.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Rich and Linda DeMartile

To the Meany Family,

Ted & I were so shocked & saddened to see this in the paper, the same day as my own fathers obituary was inside. We were hoping this was just a rumor & this made our day which was already sad, just much more sadder. Ted worked with Rich at the refinery & he has such good memories of those crazy times. We just saw Rich at Floyd's service & he looked so good. We know he loved his girls & he was a good Dad to them. Ted cried for you Rich & you will be missed by...

My heart has been heavy since learning of Rich's passing. I'll remember Rich as a boy, running thru the lawn sprinklers, going to stinson beach, green algea in our hair at clearlake, Nayru jackets, man were we cool! Playing in a treehouse. As a teenager visiting in Missouri, "Turtle neck lake" fireflies and thunderstorms. As a young man crashing his barracks at March AFB, a road trip to Hollywood. As older men talking about our kids and jobs and all the good and bad things we got tangled...

To my family:
I would like to say I'm doing okay, but that's not true. I would like to say it is good to get back to work, to be busy and keep my mind off things, but that's just not happening. When I think I have no more tears to shed, here they come again. They say time heals. For us this will not be counted in days, months or even years; if ever at all.

To the family I've never forgotten:
I'm deeply saddened by the news of Richard's death. I saw him about 11 years ago and I thought he looked like he did when I new him in 1980s. We both moved on with our lives but he was a loving man who, I knew back then, was made to be a father. When I saw him he talked about his daughter's who he loved so dearly. I am still stunned by this news and wish I had kept in touch with the family but it just didn't seem possible. The entire Meany family...

To the Meany Girls...
I came to know you and Rick, through my husband, Skip...I am glad Skip made the trip to see you all, several years ago.
Some great stories, I fondly call "The Skip & Rick trips" helped me understand their unique friendship...how we will miss him!
Know that we will always be here for you girls! He loved you very much!
