My prayers are with Rick's family and friends. Rick was always full of humor even in harsh and trying times. Our families go way back.

My sincere condolences go out to Rick's family and friends. I worked in the office at Shasta School for five years, and he was always very professional, caring and so insightful. He was a such a fighter! What an example his is for all! He will be missed very much. My mother was friends with his mother years ago at Kraft Foods, and I am also friends with his sister and niece. Mr.Mello was my 1st grade teacher @ Lathrop School. He was a great teacher, and on top of that was very comical. He will missed greatly and to his family my prayers and thoughts go out to you all.

Rick was my vice-principal at Lincoln and principal at Shasta from the mid eighties until I retired in 1996. His lasting gift to me over the years was his professional trust and confidence in my capability as a teacher. My condolences to all the family and prayers for the Lord's comfort in your hearts.

Mr. Mello was a great principal and very tuned in to his students needs. It is with great sadness to hear of his passing. Our son is enrolled in the SDC at Shasta and he has excelled since being at this school for the past 3 yrs. Mr. Mello will be missed.
