Richard was born on June 1, 1937 and passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Richard was a resident of Washington at the time of passing. Graduate of Whitworth College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and participant in pole-vaulting and football. After college Richard served as a lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard.

Dear Meredith, It was so nice to meet you and renew our friendship with Dick at the coffee shop near Wenatchee Valley College last fall, 2018. There had been a gap of many years in our personal contact, but our time with Dick at Whitworth in both football and track was very memorable. Dick was a great teammate and fierce competitor, but he had a wonderful sense of humor and a generous spirit.
