Not sure what to say?

Murph and I were freshmen "Rook" roommates and solid friends at Norwich. He polished my shoes better than I could and I ironed his clothes and sewed repairs better than he! It was a match! He gave me a "brother" during that first year and I have held him close to my heart ever since. My sincerest condolences to you all. His laugh is still in my ears! Robb

We all lost a fine Norwich man. He lived our NU values. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and his NU buddies. May he now Rest In Peace. NORWICH FOREVER. RADM Rich Schneider Norwich President Emeritus

Patty, out thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Murph was a very close friend and classmate and will be missed by all. Charlie & Kathy

I played high school golf with Ira Kowarsky at Classical High School in 1962. I played Dick a few times in the Cathedral High School matches. I knew I was outmatched because Dick had such a pure swing and demeanor, plus he had "white bucks" golf shoes which I could only hope for. Patti, Gregory and family - I pray that God will be ever close to you as you grieve over the loss of Dick.

RIP Dick. I was ab sports writer and covered many of the tournaments Dick competed. I recall writing a special Sunday Republican article about Dick as one of Westerbn Massachusetts' best amateur golfers. My condolences to your family and friends.

So sorry for your loss Patty and family!

Dear Patty, We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband Dick. We are cousins of Dick, who moved away from Springfield years ago and have been retired in Florida since 1992. We heard about your loss from our cousin Cathy. Margie, Bill and Jean are children of Madelyn (Murphy) Hogan, a sister to Dick's dad Jack Murphy. My mom Hannah (Devine) Valley was a first cousin with Dick's mother Agnes (Devine) Murphy. I was fortunate to have caddied for Dick a few times and he was always a...

As a golfer, Murph was simply the best. If there is a list of the top golfers in the history of Western Mass he is the list, period! People may forget that he was quite a floor general and point guard for some very good Cathedral HS hoop teams. He may have led the world in assists because all he had to do was pass to Gene Ryzewicz and get out of the way along with the rest of us.. He was a major league touch of class. My sincere sympathy to his family and good friend Ira..

One of the most gracious men I have had the pleasure of competing against, always a true gentleman.
