I am saddened to learn of Rik's death. He was a teacher, mentor, and friend to me. He inspired me to pursue a career in academic psychology. He was a good man.

I was shocked and saddened tonight to hear of Rik's death.He was the most amazing chair and mentor to me in 1975-6 and again in 1980-84. He made my career possible because he figured out innovative problem solving with gusto to get me into psychology by removing every obstacle in my way. I am writing a book about the study I completed at UVM now considered a classic and it would not have happened without him and I outline it in a chapter.
