Beloved husband of the late Jeanette A. Nickel (nee Mertz). Dear father of Lois (John) Ronan, Janet (Randy) Jacob, Debra (Ryan) Couchman and the late Gary Oehler. Dear grandfather of 3 and great-grandfather of 6. Dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend of many.
Services: Funeral service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 12345 Manchester Rd., Des Peres, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Interment St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery (Des Peres). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Des Peres. Visitation at church Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. I've known Rich for about 50 years but hadn't kept in touch in recent years. We were both Indian artifact collectors and I enjoyed seeing his collection on Nana several times and always visited with him at artifact shows. He had a great collection and I'm lucky to have a few pieces from it in my collection. He was a very nice man and very knowledgeable about artifacts. I'm sure he is in the happy hunting ground.

I was a friend of Richard’s son Gary back in the late 50’s and early 60’s on Nana Lane and knew the other kids as well. Saw the obit in the Post. Best wishes to the entire family during your time of loss.
