GREENVILLE - Richard (Dick) J. O'Brien, age 76 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:00 AM Wednesday December 8, 2021 at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Dick was born February 12, 1945 in Lancaster, PA and the son of the late Floyd R. and Onda Lucille (Fryman) O'Brien of Coletown, Ohio.
Dick was retired having been employed as an electrician with the IBEW Electrical Union Local # 82, a part owner of Q.O.B. Electric Inc. and for several years was the superintendent of the Greenville Union Cemetery.
Dick was a member and Elder of the EUM Church of Greenville. Also a member of the Greenville Liar's Club, former member of the Board of Directors of the Greenville Federal Savings and Loan and the City of Greenville Planning Commission. He loved to go fishing and had been involved with Habitat for Humanity. He was an avid sports fan and a graduate of the Greenville High School Class of 1963 receiving Honorable Mention Honors in the Miami Valley League that year. In 2003 Richard and Jana where honored as the Grand Marshal for the Homecoming Parade.
Dick is survived by his wife Jana S. (Mason) O'Brien. They were married January 21, 1967. Also daughters Julie C. (O'Brien) Hicks and husband Darren P. Hicks and Emily E. (O'Brien) Kautz and husband William H. Kautz III as well as grandchildren William M. Kautz and Olivia C. Kautz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date and will be held in the EUM Church Worship Center 1451 Sater Street Greenville, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Brethren Retirement Community Resident's Aid Fund or the EverHeart Hospice of Greenville, Ohio.
