I just learned of Herb's passing. I hadn't seen him since the '77 baseball season. Herb had a maturity beyond his years concerning what was important in life and what wasn't. My father was a hard man to get along with. Herb charmed him. Trust me, that wasn't an easy thing to do. Herb left an impression on me that lasts to this day nearly 40 years after I first met him and 36 years since we last spoke. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I live overseas and just heard of Herbie's passing. I apologize for the late response. I'll always remember Herbie and his love of sports and I send my condolences to all family members. I knew Herbie in junior high and high school. [email protected]

I know this is a very late entry, but only today at a family gathering I learned about Herbie's home-going. The Odom family etched a special place in my heart many years ago as a young wife and mother, going to Pavers to drop by, or to the lovely Christmas dinners that would be hosted for the employees. I ran into Herbie a few times over the years, and he always left me laughing. Ironically, even as I type with sadness in my heart, I have a smile on my face.
Blessings and prayers...

How can you say good bye to your best friend, lover, father, son, granddad, the best advice I can give you as survivers is to live your life to the fullest because that is what he would have wanted. My prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time.

Herbie, a man with a smile always. You've left us all great memories to smile about. It seems like yesterday, Lana & I taking you morning coffee & donuts at 5am on the side of the road, a day at the track, sharing stories over wings & beer and so many others.
To the Odom Family, may you find comfort & peace in time with your memories and may they bring with them a smile!
In loving memory of a wonderful man. We will love you and miss you always!

Herbie always brought a ray of sunshine to any room he entered!! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. He will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts. The class of "77" has lost another, but he is in great company with the others that have gone on before us. Tracy Snyder Rembert (Sugar Hill, GA)
