Richard Merrill Oveson

My parents, Jerry and Jane Meiling, met Dick in Boston while they were both in graduate school. Afterwards they remained connected, and I remember meeting Dick & Alix in Provo after I had served a mission in Belgium/France and while studying Economics at BYU. He gave me some great educational and career advice. My father always spoke so highly of Dick. We are saddened for the loss of Richard Oveson. He was someone who we thought was just going to live on past 100. We will always cherish the time we were able to sit and chat in his home about a wide range of issues, whether they be spiritual or simply reflecting on Dick's adventures in life. Dick Oveson was easily one of the 5 best professors under which I studied at BYU, both as an undergraduate and as a graduate of the Marriott School of Business. And that's a difficult feat given the large number of educators to which I was exposed at BYU. Uber patient, dryly witty, and so very "get 'er done" and "what did you get out of that?" Great man.
